HISTORY BUFFS appreciate our island. "Old Ironsides" was built from our oak timbers and so was the original Brooklyn Bridge. The French, Spanish, British, and American Indians left many legacies.

HURRICANES? We have the lowest incidence of hurricane strike on the eastern seaboard and we feel safe here. We do occasionally have a "nor'easter" which messes up fishing for a day or so.
